Every year AAIM invites one person from every family to write a tribute in memory of their loved one or a story if you are a victim that was injured. We encourage you to write your story in 500 words or less and include the birth date, crash or death date, and a portrait picture. If your tribute/story has been published in our benefit book in the past, we understand the story has not changed; however, please take the time to update the story and your journey through this difficult time. Email your story and picture directly to your Advocate by Monday, September 12, 2022.
Instructions for Victim Story 2022 AAIM Book:
1. Title is in BOLD, CENTERED 14PT:
Example (in a death case): The John Kreslin, Jr. Tribute
Example (in an injury case): The Leeslyee Huerta Story
2. The second line (dates of birth/death) title is CENTERED 12PT
Example: December 2, 1981 - June 29, 2009
3. Single spaced in the body of tribute
4. Body of story: no more than 12 pt font
5. Margins 1-inch on each side and top and bottom
6. Story/Tribute should not exceed 500 words
7. Double-space after periods
8. Please include one picture of your loved one, as the space for pictures is very limited. Please send in a jpeg format, labeled with their full name.
9. The word “accident” is not part of AAIM’s vocabulary. In our book, we use the word “crash” instead of “accident.” We believe that deaths and injuries caused by impaired and distracted driving are not accidents. They are tragic results of willful conduct. The label of “accident” obscures the causative factors of alcohol/substance use/abuse, distraction and other dangerous behaviors resulting in the failure to recognize these actions as intentional and criminal.
If you have access to a computer you may e-mail your story and picture directly to your Advocate. If you do not have access to a computer or need assistance with these instructions, please contact your Advocate. The office will type up handwritten stories if requested, depending on time available.
